Welcome to the world of Carnatic Music & Violin
The Renowned Artist Ragaratnam Nedumangad Sivanandan was born on 30th Jun 1935. His father Sri Neyyanttingara Vasudevan Pillai was a sovereign identity in the realm of music and no doubt, his mother Smt. Dakshayani Amma was blessed a lot with the noble birth of this genius violinist.
Sri Nedumangad Sivanandan began to learn music and violin from his father, the veteran in the field, and had his maiden entry in the musical world as an accompanist in the concerts. After his school education he joined Swathi Thirunal Music Academy, Thiruvanandapuram and took Ganabhushan in 1954 with an envious and excellent position.
After the demise of his dear father he had his higher studies in the violin as the disciple of one of the most famous violinists of the period Sri. ViruthuNagar Ganapathiya Pillai who was the disciple of great violin Maestro Kumbakonam Raja Manickam Pillai.
After having proved profound knowledge in music from his Guru, he started to perform in AIR as a graded artist. As his talent was not superficial, he could make his mark there. His inborn talent and dedicated service as a violinist and Guru helped him very much. He entered the government service as a music teacher at an early age of 19 and retired on superannuation in 1990.
He had been nominated in the Board of Examination for Ganabhushanam and in the audition board of Akasavani, Thrissur station, and served there for a period of six years Four years respectively. He had been put in the sole responsibility of conducting violin in the prestigious Guruvayoor Chembai Sangeetholsav for the last 25 years.
